Cultural Awareness Training

J. Hammock & Associates has conducted cultural awareness training for major corporations who want to improve their business relations with Japanese partners or prospective partners. The two cultures are very different, and a different set of communication skills are required.

Training consists of the following:

  • Japan 101
  • Japanese communication style
  • Do's and Don'ts with Japanese
  • Japanese decision making
  • Business meeting etiquette
  • Japanese customs and manners
  • Problem solving with the Japanese

We customize our training for your particular needs—from prepping for a one-time visit to preparing expats and their families for an extended stay.

Goals

  • To prepare participants for doing business in Japan.
  • Increase the awareness of differences between the Japanese and Western cultures.
  • Learn about Japanese behavior patterns to facilitate business communication.
  • Help participants avoid making some of the common "mistakes" in doing business in Japan.
  • Prepare travelers to interact appropriately with their hosts.
  • Learn how to deal with interpreters abroad that may translate literally but not translate the hidden meanings.
